Digital snakes operate just like an analog snake, but they typically use Cat-5 or Cat-6 cable between the inputs and outputs. Some digital snakes, such as the ProCo Momentum system have matrix ability as well. The ProCo Momentum digital snake can handle up to 256 channels of audio over a single Cat-6 cable. Digital snakes typically have one or more boxes at both ends in place of the standard fan-to-box configuration of analog snakes.
